Three academic programs in Phoenix aim to fill area stages with talented performers. The Phoenix College Theatre & Film Department is one of the oldest and most respected performing arts programs in Arizona, focusing on acting, directing, and technical work. The school also features a music program. Arizona State University's Department of Theatre brings to the scene a serious academic and hands-on theatre study in performance studies, directing, design and production, playwriting, and theatre for youth, and its dance program bring the same intensity of training and study. The third program, the University of Arizona's Arizona Repertory Theatre is one of the state's main training facilities for the future of performing arts.
