Educational opportunities, from law and criminal justice degrees to paralegal education, abound in Phoenix. The Phoenix International School of Law, which opened in 2004, is a non-traditional school that focuses on making students “practice ready.”The College of Law at Arizona State University includes an institute that focuses on how law relates to science and technology. The Paralegal Institute specializes in paralegal education and also offers programs in criminal justice and legal nurse consultant. Other schools that offer criminal justice and/or paralegal studies include Everest College, Long Technical College, and Phoenix College.
The employment outlook for legal professions in the Phoenix area is excellent. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2003 and 2013, job opportunities for lawyers should increase 24.2%. Paralegal jobs should increase 32.8%, and jobs for legal support workers are predicted to increase 22.3%. Phoenix will be a great place to find a job in protective services, as jobs for correctional officers and jailers are projected to increase 42.5% and jobs for police and sheriff's patrol officers should increase 37%.
